Overview:

A Salad Maker / Sushi Maker is responsible for preparing high-quality salads or sushi dishes, ensuring freshness, presentation, and taste. They work in restaurants, hotels, catering services, or sushi bars, following strict food safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Salad Maker Duties:

  1. Prepare and assemble fresh salads according to menu specifications.
  2. Wash, cut, and mix ingredients such as vegetables, fruits, meats, and dressings.
  3. Ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients.
  4. Arrange and garnish salads for attractive presentation.
  5. Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  6. Monitor stock levels and replenish ingredients as needed.
  7. Follow food safety and hygiene regulations.
  8. Assist in menu development by suggesting new salad recipes.

Sushi Maker Duties:

  1. Prepare and roll sushi, including maki, nigiri, and sashimi, following traditional or modern techniques.
  2. Select and cut high-quality seafood, vegetables, and other ingredients.
  3. Ensure proper storage and handling of raw fish and other perishable items.
  4. Create visually appealing sushi platters with proper garnishing.
  5. Maintain a clean and sanitized sushi station.
  6. Follow food safety guidelines, especially regarding raw fish handling.
  7. Monitor inventory and ensure freshness of sushi ingredients.
  8. Assist in developing new sushi recipes or special menu items.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience as a Salad Maker, Sushi Chef, or in a similar food preparation role is a plus.
  2. Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and handling of fresh ingredients.
  3. Knife skills and ability to cut and prepare ingredients efficiently.
  4. Creativity in food presentation and plating.
  5. Strong attention to detail and time management.
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  7. Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior chefs.

Work Environment:

  1. Restaurants, hotels, catering services, or sushi bars.
  2. May require working weekends, holidays, or late shifts.
  3. Standing for long hours and handling sharp kitchen tools.
